Export of Specialized Materials (Virunga), Democratic Republic of the Congo
ENVERTEC S.L. continues its commercial expansion in Africa with the award and supply of 1,020 units of CAON-KORWI® polymeric string insulators. These insulators, designed for 132kV transmission lines operating in areas classified as Very High Pollution, are destined for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and are being installed within the geographic region of Virunga.
The Virunga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, spans 790,000 hectares and is renowned for its extraordinary diversity of habitats. This park is a critical refuge for the endangered mountain gorilla and serves as an important overwintering site for numerous migratory bird species traveling from Siberia. The park’s unique ecological significance demands infrastructure solutions that minimize environmental impact while ensuring the reliability of essential energy networks.
The CAON-KORWI® polymeric insulators, specifically engineered to withstand extreme pollution levels, provide robust performance and enhanced durability in challenging environments like Virunga. By incorporating these insulators, the project not only supports the development of the region’s energy infrastructure but also aligns with conservation priorities, reducing risks to wildlife and habitats.
This project reinforces ENVERTEC’s commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable solutions for high-voltage networks in sensitive ecological areas. It also highlights the company’s growing role as a trusted provider of advanced materials in international markets, further solidifying its presence across the African continent.
