Design Features:
The SCa6RT cover belongs to the new family of protections developed to prevent electrocution of wildlife and to ensure the continuity of railway service in the AVE catenaries belonging to the ADIF network.
The SCa6RT protector is a multifunctional device designed to cover the live parts present in Lightning Rods (Fig. 2) and ADIF Ca6RT-type suspensions (Fig. 3), both straight and curved.
It is a device designed to cover transformer terminals, various substation components, ANSI 57-2 and 57-3 type insulators, among others. The silicone thickness used is 3.5 mm, which gives the device the necessary dielectric strength, as well as efficient performance over time.
The SCa6RT features horizontal conductor outlets at different levels in networks up to 52 kV.
Installation:
This cover has 4 outlets at different heights: two upper circular ones (A) for the central conductor outlet (Fig. 4) and two lower ones (B) in a sliding form with up to 190mm of free outlet, for lateral conductor outlets (Fig. 5). Each outlet is equipped with an anti-nesting system.
It has 9 closure points with bolts (pre-installed on each device), which allows for simple, manual installation without the need for tools on existing overhead lines.
Advantages:
- It features an exclusive drainage system in the shape of a star at the bottom to prevent moisture accumulation.
- The conical section design of its 4 outlets allows, through the use of silicone tapes and the unique morphology of the SCa6RT, to adjust it over the conductor cover, performing a double function: making it difficult for water to enter and providing extra fixation to the assembly, ensuring its stability in the chosen position under adverse conditions.
- The different conical outlets are equipped with an Anti-Intrusion System designed to hinder nesting and insect entry.
- Its double-cone PIN closure system allows for subsequent inspections without damaging the SCa6RT.
- The SCa6RT can also be used for non-dielectric purposes, such as protecting the most exposed parts of equipment in substations from bird droppings
Supply Format
The SCa6RT protectors are packaged in recyclable cardboard containers, each containing 4 units in red RAL 3031. Each package includes information on the manufacturing month and year, batch number, as well as handling, storage, and recycling instructions. The interior of the packaging contains a detailed Instruction Manual for proper installation of the protector. It also includes a QR code providing access to the installation video in the field
